These are quarterly talks, organized by C4DLab, University of Nairobi, on topical ICT issues in relation to national development in partnership with Government and private sector stakeholders.
ICT is a cross cutting tool. In its various forms, technology affects and transforms various sectors. The ICT master-plan has three key foundations:
- ICT human capital and workforce development which aims at developing quality ICT human resources as a pre-requisite to the development of a viable ICT sector.
- Integrated ICT infrastructure, which seeks to provide the integrated infrastructure backbone required to enable cost effective delivery of ICT products and services to Kenyans;
- Integrated information infrastructure which aims at improving the quality of e-Government services and enable the country to transition to a knowledge-based society.
Further, the master-plan has three pillars, namely E-Government services, ICT as a Driver of Industry and Developing ICT Businesses. These foundations and pillars form an excellent basis for the forums which would then address multi-disciplinary themes like innovation, education, entrepreneurship and national development in the context of Vision 2030. Each of the foundations and pillars in the master-plan, technical could become topics of discussion by stakeholders in each of the forums. The implementation of the master-plan needs solid monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, and these forums would become an ideal thermometer for the same.
