Hiring Interns


C4DLab is currently focused on an incubation program of start-ups from the University community. The lab aims at contributing towards building the Silicon Savannah, leveraging on the large university community.

To support its operations, C4DLab seeks to recruit innovative, dynamic and self-motivated interns, who can work under minimum supervision to come and join its young, robust, energetic and dynamic team.

Community developer

The community developer will help build the C4DLab community. We define the community as individuals who in one way or another would be interested in the lab. This includes students from the entire university, faculty members, non-teaching staff, alumni and partners in Kenya and beyond. The intern will develop and execute a strategy that would help C4DLab build its community rapidly and effectively.


  1. Engage with the community  through emails and one-on-one meetings
  2. Help in recruiting new people to the community
  3. Planning and organizing for C4DLab events
  4. Populating the C4DLab community database
  5. Responding to queries from the community and other interested parties



  1. Be a student at the University of Nairobi
  2. Good at both spoken and written English


Social media manager

The social media manager will be responsible for the enhancement of C4DLab visibility in the social networks. It is critical to be visible not only to the community, but to the entire world. The intern will develop and execute a strategy that would increase the visibility of the lab on social media platforms. Besides social media, the intern will design and publish an online newsletter and coordinate the blogging efforts of the lab.


  1. Posting C4DLab updates on Facebook, Google+, twitter and Linkedin
  2. Engaging C4DLab stakeholders on social media
  3. Coordinate C4DLab blogging efforts
  4. Design and Publishing the C4DLab newsletter


  1. Be a student at the University of Nairobi preferably pursuing an undergraduate degree preferably Journalism
  2. Conversant with all the social media networks
  3. Good command of both spoken and written English


The designer will be responsible for designing items at C4DLab. Every so often the lab has to print posters, banners, publications and the like. The intern will develop samples that the lab management can discuss and approve.


  • Designing posters, banners, publications, etc.


  • Be a student at the University of Nairobi
  • Knowledge of Adobe suite preferably Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign
  • Got an eye for design
