C4DLab, the University of Nairobi‘s startup incubation and acceleration lab, is organising a three-day cybersecurity training targeting partcipants from the private and public sectors.
The event, the fifth since inception in July 2014, is supported by the ICT Authority and is scheduled to take place between April 6 and 8 2016 at the University of Nairobi’s Chiromo campus, School of Computing and Informatics(SCI) starting from 8 am.
According to the Director, C4DLab, the course will take participants through pertinent topics on staying safe online including fundamentals of information security, national agenda on information security, international best practice in information security, threats and attacks, preventing and detecting attacks, hackers techniques and controls, computer forensics and incident handling and mobile security, among others.
“Since County governments, Ministries, Departments and Agencies, among others need to be equipped with skills and resources to address the issue of information security, the objective of the training is to equip the attendees with the knowledge and understanding of a wide range of subject areas that make up information security and its management,” said Dr Tonny Omwansa, C4DLab’s Director.
He further indicated that the training is suited to information security professionals such as IT Security Managers, Cloud Security Professionals, IT Architects and Administrators, Risk Assessment Professionals, Database and Web Developers, Security Auditors and Compliance Managers, Network and System Administrators,among others.
“By the end of it all, the attendees will have been equipped with good working knowledge and understanding of the wide range of subject areas that make up information security and its management,” he added.
