C4DLab is looking to roll out its first twice-a-year-forum targeting young innovators even as it prepares for the once in a year technology exhibition week, Nairobi Innovation Week.

To be run at the University of Nairobi‘s Chiromo Campus, the ‘Young Innovators Forum’, among other things, aims to propel the growth and development of a community of student innovators as well as to provide a platform for Networking between the innovators and to encourage university-Industry- innovator engagement and actual collaboration.

“The rising number of potential young innovators is an opportunity to harness their powerful minds in a bid to create a community of innovators and inculcate the culture of creativity, innovativeness and continuous learning,” said Dr Tonny Omwansa, Director, C4DLab.

On giving the reason for running another event almost similar to the Nairobi Innovation Week, Dr Omwansa said:

“The biannual engagement with young innovators takes cognizance of the fact that the Innovation Week provides the much needed platform for constantly engaging partners in advancing the dialog on innovation as well as moulding the base on which the innovative economy will be built, but being an annual event that requires rigorous planning, there is a need for another more regular and frequent engagement with the young innovators and industry,” explained Dr Omwansa.

Slated for April 8 this year, the one-day seminar themed “Innovation by the youth for a brighter tomorrow”, will entail key note presentations, panel discussions, as well as case study presentations.

“The event is expected to attract members of the academia ranging from university leadership to faculty and students from various disciplines, university partners such as entrepreneurs, organizations and government who appreciate the value of innovation in their organizations and society, members of the public who want to listen to presentations, learn and participate in the discussions, among others,” said Dr Omwansa in a concept note of the event.
