Dr. Tonny Omwansa speaks at a past cybersceurity training event held in November last year.

In an effort to make Kenya a highly cybersecure nation, C4DLab supported by ICT Authority has for the last three months been organizing a cybersecurity training program which started today morning at the University of Nairobi’s Chiromo Campus, attended by delegates from various parts of the country.

Dr. Tonny Omwansa, the C4DLab Coordinator, opened the first session which entailed material laying the ground for the next two sessions dealing with global threats to information and telecommunication systems and how to deal with them, later on  covered sufficiently by the ICT Authority’s Project Manager, Mr. Evans Kahuthu.

Specifically, Dr. Omwansa took the class through the socio-economic dynamics of cybersecurity and its threats which paved the way for important discussions.

Meanwhile, the themes emerging from the first day included information security, network security, types of cyber attacks, incident handling, intrusion detection, malware, as well as network hacking and prevention.

The training picks up tomorrow with several topics touching at the core of cybersecurity.
