Portrait of Dr.Vijoo Rattansi,University of Nairobi Chancellor.
On Wednesday, at about 3:00 p.m,while the C4DLab innovation team was deeply engrossed in the activities of the day,a rare but invaluable presence called at their door.
But many, struggling to come to terms with the reality before them, namely hosting the university’s top echelon in their small working spaces, took it merely as a figment of their overactive imaginations and definitely continued ‘coding’. Others were seriously ‘designing’ and ‘developing’.
However, when it became quite clear to the majority that the University’s Chancellor herself was the one they had to host briefly, they felt to be more than blessed and they gave the delegation all the attention, if only they could attend to the progress of their ideal projects.
Accompanied by the Vice Chancellor and several other esteemed personalities,Dr.Vijoo Rattansi’s visit to the university’s top innovation hub, Computing for Development (C4D) Lab was not taken for granted.
Facilitating the Chancellor’s successful day-long tour of Chiromo campus were: the Vice Chancellor ,Prof. Magoha, College Principal Prof. Aduda; Deputy Vice Chancellor Research, Production & Extension Prof . Lucy Irungu; DVC Academic Affairs Prof . Mutoro; DVC Administration & Finance Prof. Mbithi ; DVC Student Affairs Prof. Mbeche as well as University Council chairman Dr. Idle Farah.

Guided by the lab’s able coordinator Dr. Tonny Omwansa(@tomwansa),the Chancellor got acquainted with the marvelous activities of the 12 incubated startups. The designers as well as developers were also more than glad to showcase their transformative ideas to the esteemed visitors.

Chancellor Rattansi’s visit to the hub was a direct consequence of her having earlier planned to visit the entire College of Physical and Biological Sciences, since her appointment.
All in all,the C4DLab fraternity felt so highly favored to have their University’s chancellor appreciate their tireless efforts at transforming the socio-economic sphere of the nation.
