Following their press release, we are pleased to have some of the startups incubated at C4DLab make it to the semifinals of the PIVOT East competition, 2014 edition.
These include Chura, Farmdrive, Tevat ltd, from the Finance category; Funke Science and Throughpass from the entertainment category. They join other 50 semifinalists who will be battling it out to make it to the 25 most promising startups to participate in the finalist pitching conference.
PIVOT East is a startups pitching competition held every year and comprising of participants from East Africa. In order to reach the best startups, PIVOT East has partnered with various tech hubs in the East African region such as C4DLab in Kenya, Outbox in Uganda, Buni in Tanzania, kLab in Rwanda, Iceaddis in Ethiopia, just to mention a few. The competitions this year were opened in February 2014.
Since its inception in 2011, PIVOT East competitions have seen about 75 mobile startups from across East Africa, who have participated as finalists of past competitions. 20% of them have cumulatively raised over $4.7million in funding after their participation in the competition. Other benefits of participating in the competition include increased visibility, provide platform for networking and an opportunity to meet potential investors.
The finalists’ conference will be held on the 24th and 25th June 2014 in Nairobi. We congratulate the startups at C4DLab for making it through the competitions this far, and wish them best of luck in the next and final stage.
